Here are 10 reasons to workout that have nothing to do with how your body looks. Reasons like the ones I’m going to talk about help you stay motivated to exercise and help you stay in a healthy mindset.

1. Get Stronger 💪🏾⁣
Ever brought in all of the groceries in with one trip? Moved the couch to vacuum? Picked up a 4 year old? Carried a cooler full of ice to the pool? Exactly 😏⁣

2. The Endorphins ✨⁣
That feel good feeling after you workout is so addicting. You feel like you can do anything. You’re pumped and excited. That’s the endorphins flowing through you and it’s magical.⁣

3. Mental Health 🧠⁣
Exercise has been proven to reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. I can attest that working out has been a major factor in helping me with my own depression. ⁣

4. Me Time 💁🏾‍♀️
It’s okay to be a little selfish. Working out is a time you can dedicate to just focus on YOU.

5. Helps with Energy 🔋
By increasing you levels of activity your body’s endurance level increases and stress level decreases, helping you manage how you feel throughout the day.

6. Fun Pastime 🏋🏾‍♀️⁣
Dancing, skating, boxing, lifting weights, running or whatever you LOVE doing. Do it because you actually like it.⁣


7. Confidence Booster 😎⁣
Even with NO physical change working out can make you feel good about yourself.

8. ⁣Better Sleep 💤
I’ve noticed on days I’ve worked out and put in some effort, I hit my head on the pillow and it’s lights out almost instantaneously. No mindless scrolling on my phone, just a nice ache in my body from pushing myself and then sleep.

9. Escape 🏝
So it may not be as good as a vacation but working out does let you get away and forget about everything stressful in your life and tap into just your physical self. When I workout, especially when lifting, all I can focus on is my core is tight, my glutes are engaged, and whatever move i’m doing (ie. squats or a bicep curl) and the feeling from it. Not work, not family, not bills— just that.

10. Overall Health ❤️
The BMI chart is crap and healthy looks like anything but working out for a health condition or preventing diseases like diabetes and heart disease is important. My family has a history of high blood pressure, so exercise is a good preventive measure for me.
